How to find a blog niche
The first step in deciding to start a blog is to find a blog niche where you can write enough posts on several keywords within that niche. Now I will describe how to find a blog niche easily.
Let's assume that you want to market affiliate products. There are affiliate products in every niche imaginable so you can start by deciding on a major niche first and then narrow down your choice.
The major niches are concerned with health, money, and romance. In these niches, people have many problems, so there is plenty of need for tips and information to help them solve their problems. Your job is to match blog readers to a solution that your affiliate product provides.
But there is a lot of competition for the popular keywords, so you need to be more specialized. If you don't plan to write many posts, you will need to find a micro-niche in order to rank for the keywords.
So first of all pick one of the major niches such as health. Then find an affiliate program to promote in the health niche. For example, it could be an acne treatment product. So then, your niche would be the "acne cure" niche, and your blog posts would describe the problems associated with acne, review the treatments, and recommend products that alleviate the problem.
Next, have a look at the competition by searching on keywords related to acne. Use Google's keyword suggestions as you enter acne into the search box for this. What you are looking for is a gap in the market where there is no highly optimized websites dominating the top 5 positions. You want to come in with a keyword domain, blog post URL's, and title tags optimized for your niche keywords.
It could take a lot of research to come up with a good, low competition keyword, but it will be worth it so that you stand a good chance to rank your blog in the top of the search results. Once you have your keyword, try to register a .com, .net, or .org domain name containing the keyword and only 1 filler word e.g. bestacnecuretips
So that's how to find a blog niche.
